Ingredients:

Tools & Equipment:

  • Small fine paintbrush or toothpicks
  • Baking Paper
  • Small pointed end knife

This recipe is designed to make 12 Pumpkin Pop toppers.

Step 1.   Colour your Fondant as per the ratios required above.  You can colour the fondant using your preferred method and colours you have readily available.  For this recipe we used our Roberts Edible Craft Powder dyes.  You only need a small amount to be added to the white fondant and once kneaded through thoroughly will create the colours you need.

Step 2.  Place a small amount of green fondant into the mould cavity for the pumpkin stalk.

Step 3  Next place a larger size ball of orange fondant into the mould for the pumpkin and press it in until the
space is filled. You will have plenty of excess fondant spill over the sides,  but this is handy for when you peel
the pumpkin from the mould.  By flipping the mould over and looking from the front, you can ensure you have filled in all the gaps and achieved the definition of the facial features.

Step 4.  Remove the pumpkin from the mould and lay it flat onto some baking paper. Using a knife with a fine pointed end, trim the excess fondant away.

Step 5.  Roll 2 tiny balls of Black Satin Ice and attach to the eye socket using a dot of water or our Edible Glue.  Our Edible Glue dries clear so its great for applying small pieces.  You only need a very small amount.

Step 6.Insert a lollipop stick into the base of each Pumpkin Pop and set aside to harden.

Step 7.  Bake and decorate your cupcakes and insert a Pumpkin Pop into each one.   We used our Vanilla Mud Cake Mix to make the cupcakes baked into our Orange Foil Cupcake Papers.

500g will make 18 cupcakes using our standard foil cupcake cases  (Size 550 case).  If you want all of them to have a pumpkin pop, you can double the Pumpkin Pop quantities or it is just as visually stunning to decorate only 12 with the toppers, and 6 with just coloured icing and sprinkles.  We have lots of Halloween Sprinkles to select from or choose one of our single colour options.  All our sprinkles can be found here.
